Passing on the CFO baton

Friday December 11, 2020

One of the key events for FLC this year has been Russell Bell stepping back from the CFO role, with Phillip Grubb taking on the responsibilities.

It has been a seamless transition and five years in the making. Russell recruited Phillip into FLC five years ago commencing this succession program. As CFO, Phillip also carries out the Company Secretary duties, which includes the management of all share transactions.

We recently recognized Russell’s significant contributions at the AGM. Russell remains in the business as our Internal Business Consultant.

For those of you that haven’t yet met Phillip, we asked him to put together this brief bio below;

Born and raised in Invercargill, I started my career as a trainee Accountant at Cook Adam & Co (now Findex). After 2 years of working full-time and studying part-time in Invercargill, I attended Otago University in Dunedin for two years where I completed my degree, before returning to Invercargill to work full time at Cook Adam & Co and completing my CA qualifications. In 2010, Casey and I moved to London on a 2 year working visa for our OE experience. During my time in London I worked in the Head Office of BPP University fulfilling various roles, including Cost Accounting Manager.

Following our time in the UK, we moved to Melbourne where I took up a role as Finance Manager in the newly created Group Shared Services Team for WHK Group (now Findex). After 2 years in the Finance Manager role, I moved into the WHK Group Head Office as Group Finance Manager, working alongside the CFO.

After 3 and ½ years in Melbourne, the exciting opportunity came to move back to Southland and join the FLC Team in Te Anau.

5 years on, Casey and I, along with our 3 young children are thoroughly enjoying life in Te Anau and everything that it has to offer.

We wish both Phillip and Russell every success in their new roles.
