We like to keep our profile high in China so that people who might do business know we are here. One way we do this is through trade shows and conferences.
We once again had a prominent stand in November at the CFSE in Qingdao. This was our fifth year at what is now the highest attended seafood show in the world, with 29,250 visitors over the three days coming to see 1,503 exhibitors from 46 countries. The New Zealand pavilion generally punches above its weight, thanks in part to a vigorous kapa haka group that always draws a crowd. Our own stand looks great and is prominently positioned. We’ll be there again in November 2018.
In January, at the invitation of a client, we attended the China Fisheries Association (Trade and Business Branch) Annual Meeting in Shanghai. It’s a high-level event that was covered on Chinese television. The NZ Trade Commissioner spoke of Fiordland Lobster in his address to the conference. We provided a lobster for each of the 53 tables at the dinner banquet and one of our dual language brochures was on each table.
