With China closed to Australian lobsters, SALCO is getting innovative.
There's a lot of competition in Australia right now to sell lobsters to local distributors and restaurants. Michael Blake, SALCO's Tasmania State Manager, is going straight to the Aussie consumers.
Michael's own consumer-facing business, Tasmanian Gourmet Seafoods, has a strong Facebook following. He's using that to drum up interest in cooked lobsters from SALCO's Hobart plant. His Facebook followers are posting where they need him, and he's hitting the road in purpose built vehicles, with a programme of visits to regional towns.
People are queuing up to get their SALCO cooked lobsters. It's an important part of keeping the fleet fishing in Tasmania.
